Derek Nicolson loves snowboarding, ever since I met him over a decade ago, he’s been living and breathing the sport while turning his passon into a business with City Snow Events touring his rail set up around Australia for the past seven years.

Derek’s newest and without a doubt biggest project to date is the new City Snow Park, an indoor snow park located beside the water at Docklands, on Docklands Drive in Melbourne.

With a full park set-up, new jibs weekly and the ability to produce 60 tonnes of snow in two hours thanks to the cryogenic snow making technology we can now snowboard in Melbourne any day of the week. It took me 20 minutes from my house to the snow!

Best thing is Derek’s not into “selling out” with developers asking “lets do tobogganing and slopes for skiers” his answer is a crisp “No”. This park is to remain for the core action sports enthusiasts with a half pipe soon to be set up and plans for a retail shop in the pipe line and possibly the best thing.. Fully licensed premises, things are going to get wild here I can feel it.

You don’t see any sponsors logos as they were probably waiting to see if it was going to happen. Derek self funded the project with not a dollar coming from potential partners, best thing is, now it’s happened, it’s running, it’s fun, it works and it’s time to come and board.

Go say hi and shred.
