The grand finale in all it’s glory, The Flaming Lips headed by the lord of stoke Wayne Coyne was more uplifting and fun than you could pack into a smile ear to ear.

It’s kind of crazy how much can happen in real life in-between logging onto the cyber-web world.. Isn’t it? The world’s a bit wide space with amazing people everywhere, go on, just have fun, there should not be too much stress when you break the important things down.
Over the past two months I’ve been helping run a couple of events with hiatus adventures around the country and coastline meeting new friends and falling in love constantly with the smiles and personalities from various assortments of rad beings doing their thing, helping others and sharing the stoke.
Spring brings growth & change, rad & exciting hey. Go have fun, even if you don’t know where you’re heading, you’ll end up in the right place.

Mad man, charger, maniac, the Tasmanian devil himself with a heart of gold Marti Paradisis is nominated in this year’s Big Wave Awards presented by Surfing Life and Oakley. With a $35k prize purse up for grabs the Tassie boys are well represented from numerous swells around the apple isle it’s worth checking out what Moose and his crazy mates get up to.
Without a doubt the Tassie crew are leading the charge at this point, you can go watch the videos, check the sequences and vote (without any registration required) by simply clicking on the stars for the three categories, Biggest Slab, Biggest Wave and Biggest Paddle In, they’re all heavy and worthy nominations at the Big Wave Award website.
Not really cutting it the the BWAs but this little gem pictured is from a slab that lit up after a seven year hunt during a huge swell earlier this winter on a remote, shark infested stretch of coast where Marti and local guru Skeeta paddled into a clean hollow tubes.

Derek Nicolson loves snowboarding, ever since I met him over a decade ago, he’s been living and breathing the sport while turning his passon into a business with City Snow Events touring his rail set up around Australia for the past seven years.

Derek’s newest and without a doubt biggest project to date is the new City Snow Park, an indoor snow park located beside the water at Docklands, on Docklands Drive in Melbourne.

With a full park set-up, new jibs weekly and the ability to produce 60 tonnes of snow in two hours thanks to the cryogenic snow making technology we can now snowboard in Melbourne any day of the week. It took me 20 minutes from my house to the snow!

Best thing is Derek’s not into “selling out” with developers asking “lets do tobogganing and slopes for skiers” his answer is a crisp “No”. This park is to remain for the core action sports enthusiasts with a half pipe soon to be set up and plans for a retail shop in the pipe line and possibly the best thing.. Fully licensed premises, things are going to get wild here I can feel it.

You don’t see any sponsors logos as they were probably waiting to see if it was going to happen. Derek self funded the project with not a dollar coming from potential partners, best thing is, now it’s happened, it’s running, it’s fun, it works and it’s time to come and board.

Go say hi and shred.
